Selling Satisfaction

When you’re interested in being Satisfaction’s new owner, get in contact today via WhatsApp or direct call: +596 696 53 48 72

Asking price € 120.000,-

With pride and a touch of sadness, we offer our ‘Satisfaction’ for sale. This vessel has safely carried us across many seas and the Atlantic Ocean, and we couldn’t have asked for a better ship for our sailing journey. Designed and built for swift ocean crossings and voyages on the high seas, this former racer, designed by the renowned Doug Peterson, has proven itself beyond expectations. It is fast, reliable, and exceptionally comfortable in rough conditions.

While sailing.

We don’t mean to boast, but we confidently claim that we know of no ship that sails better than the ‘Satisfaction’. Every sailing experience is a pleasure. Everyone who has ever been on board during a sailing trip can attest to this. The vessel is fast and very comfortable, even in rough conditions. Average speeds of 7.5 knots are normal when towing the dinghy. Peaks exceeding ten knots are no exception, even when towing the dinghy.

Some statistics from our sailing journey:

– Top speed: 15.9 knots in the Bay of Biscay;

– Highest recorded 24-hour average: 9.3 knots on the Atlantic Ocean (224 NM!);

– Top speed on inland waters: 12.8 knots on the IJsselmeer, Netherlands;

– Highest recorded 24-hour average on inland waters: 8,2 knots on the IJsselmeer, Netherlands (196 NM!).

Exterior Walk-Through.

Upon arrival with the dinghy, you step onto the swim platform/sugar-scoop. Here, there is an outdoor shower with hot and cold water and, of course, a swim ladder. The platform is low enough to climb out of the water without the ladder, making accidental falls into the water less life-threatening. Via several steps built into the hull, you enter the cockpit. You stand behind the titanium steering wheel and can access both the gas locker and the aft cockpit locker. When you walk around the steering wheel, you enter the main part of the cockpit. Here you will find a second cockpit locker with ample storage space, the 6kVA generator, and the Webasto diesel heater. During sailing, you sit safely in the deep cockpit and can operate all the sails. At anchor, you can place a table here.

*wide angle photo
*wide angle photo

From the cockpit, you step onto the side decks on either side of the boat. These are wide and fully enclosed with a strong safety railing. Two carbon spinnaker poles are stowed on the side decks. On the cabin structure are two winches for operating all the running rigging, which is all located at the mast. The dinghy fits between the winches, under the boom, so it is not in the way when hoisted onboard. Forward of the mast is a spacious flush foredeck with a large escape hatch from the forward cabin. The dinghy fits here as well, and a larger one could also fit. The cutter stay is removable. The anchor locker is accessible from the deck. Here is a deep chain storage, the anchor windlass (2024), and storage for lines and fenders. The furler is recessed for optimal headsail performance.

Interior Walk-Through.

From the cockpit, you enter the interior via three steps. To port are two doors. The first leads to a double aft cabin with standing room, a bench/sidetable, and ample closet space. The second door leads to the wet room with a manual toilet, a holding tank, an indoor shower with hot and cold water, and plenty of storage space.

Upon entering to starboard is the navigation table with a built-in computer screen. The table also serves as a dinette. Here are the switches for the 24-volt and 230-volt systems and the necessary navigation equipment, including the 2022 VHF radio (ICOM IC-M506). The entire electrical system was replaced in 2022. The batteries are lead-carbon from 2024.

Midship is the galley with a two-burner gas stove. There is a very spacious refrigerator, plenty of cabinet space, and, quite uniquely for a boat, an island with three sinks. The water tap provides hot and cold water. The engine is located under the island.

*wide angle photo
*wide angle photo

Further forward are two 2.1-meter long settees, which can also be converted into stable storm berths. The mast passes through the cabin between the settees. There is an incredible amount of storage space in and behind the settees, and under the floor are three water tanks of approximately 350 liters each and one diesel tank of 350 liters. All water systems, including the pressurized water system and the 70-liter water heater, are located between the tanks.

In the main bulkhead are two doors leading to the forward cabin. Behind each door is a standing area and a high, spacious closet. The bed is extremely wide at 2.7 meters at the widest point. On either side of the bed are double wardrobes and bookshelves. At the foot of the bed is the watertight door to the crash box. This cabin is very spacious because it was originally two double cabins. It can easily be converted back into two cabins, each with a 2.35-meter-wide bed.

Rigging.

The mast is a Proctor aluminium mast, keel-stepped. The clearance height is approximately 22 meters. The mast and rigging are supported by a steel frame. The standing rigging is mostly from 2013 and was professionally inspected in 2022. The forestay and cutter stay were replaced in 2022. The running rigging was completely replaced in 2022 with Dyneema, mostly pre-stretched. The mainsail is thick Dacron from 2013, fully inspected and stitched in 2022. The jib and staysail are thick Dacron, newly delivered in 2022. A halfwinder with a sock is on board, made of thick spinnaker fabric and in excellent condition. A spinnaker and Kevlar high-aspect jib are also available, but these are in storage in the Netherlands and transportation is at the new owner’s expense.

Hull.

The hull is made of a Kevlar composite sandwich construction with a foam core. It has been oven-baked for a super-light and stiff construction. The hull was completely repainted in 2022. Above the waterline, it is painted with a double layer of AkzoNobel paint system in red, and below the waterline with a double layer of AkzoNobel hard antifouling for high-speed yachts in black. The rudder blade is carbon and approximately two meters deep. The keel is a specially designed wing keel, minimizing leeway when sailing upwind. The keel is 2,35 meters deep, but because of the design, 2,60 meters at an upwind sailing angle.

Engine.

The engine is a 98 hp Cummins diesel. It is extremely powerful and will outlast you. Positioned low and midship, the engine is optimally placed for weight distribution and is easily accessible for maintenance as the galley island fully hinges away. The engine drives a shaft with a large two-blade propeller that can be feathered while sailing. The cruising speed under engine power is approximately 7-7.5 knots at 1100 RPM.

Let us know if we should share more dinner shots (to provide inspiration) and if you would like some recipes as well! 🍽️🤤

_______

This month presented lots of opportunities and surprises. It was a trying and rewarding month with lots of lessons and reminders. The biggest reminder being, “be grateful for what you have as nothing is promised”. We only have this moment, irrespective of our plans. Anything can happen.

___________

What was the most unexpected thing that happened for you this month? What was the biggest lesson/takeaway from this month for you? How will you make the best out of the opportunities (or challenges) from July moving forward?
